Recently switched to European servers
I changed over to Europe to play with some friends over in the UK and the difference is astonishing. There seem to be less annoying LFG spammers, a remarkable drop in district arguments, less beef flying around, and all in all everyone is nicer and more helpful. A few theories on why this is so: Europeans are naturally brought up less primal than *cough* a few other areas; how they barely ever have Favor turns the game less competitive for them, in effect the players are not as wired all the time, but Korea almost always has Favor, yet they're also very polite and civilized.
I can't really elaborate on the noticable difference between Euro servers and American servers without it seeming over-generalized, but the last straw was well drawn last night when a pompous player came up out of nowhere and undermined me and a friend in the Arena and dared to call Canada the land of ignorance.
In conclusion, if you want to escape the anguish of foolish playing and immature snobs running around feeling superior while throwing N00b blindly around, F12 > put in password > Edit Account > Change Territory > Europe.
I don't think I'll go back to American territory, and hopefully, if anyone follows in my wake, this server would get Favor more often.

How many people were there in Europe Servers compared to American Servers? You just might be seeing less jerks because there are less people overall.
Or, all the jerks moved over to American Servers because they think Americans get Favor more, and most of them can't read Korean.

Thank you for such a great suggestion. I am trying that out at the very moment. Hopefully I will have the same positive experience you are having.
PS: That has to be THE cutest avatar ever.

Europe has just as many players as anywhere else, but it's separated in zones. England, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. I'm exploring all those zones to stabilize my theory on the people there being alot nicer. So far, it damn well is.

I am an American, however I believe you when you say the Europe servers are better. Why? Becuase America has negleted the next generation, which is why we have brats like we do. Now, I'm sure Europe has it's problems too, but on this specific one, they aren't as bad. Even though it is a shame, that's what I believe to be true.

It's like that because we could never understand what anybody was saying.
I'll agree though, I've been on the American servers a few times and I hate to generalise, but I love the community on the European servers. I don't even know why I switched, I'm not in America, but it didn't take me very long to switch back.
Europe for the win.
Edit: Oh, and for any non-Euro players wondering about how many people actually play on the Euro servers, there are usually 8-10 English-speaking districts in pretty much every city when I'm online.

America has neglected every generation for the past 50 years and it has just been getting worse and worse. I swear rarely does a day go by when I don't hear some new reason for why I'm ashamed for america. As for europe being nicer they definatly are but all my friends are on the american servers so I can't switch as I still want to be able to do UW and FoW with them.

Did I mention there is ALOT less bogus names beginning with Lord, ending in some cheesy last name like Deathblade or Blackheart or - you get my drift, and a huge drop in copywritten names. I tell you something, there should be a single guild for all Legolases.

I know it's a generalisation, but I'm pretty sure that the average age of European MMO players is quite a bit higher, due in part to internet access but also marketing etc. (there isn't any). I found out about GW from a German friend on a 3d forum for example...

Eh, European players might be nicer, but hell, they (or should I say we?) are so much worse (skillwise) that it sometimes really hurts. I played several days on the American Realm, and I've seen many tactics and playing concepts there that ppl in Europe don't even dream of. Right now, about 2 weeks later, some of those tacticts start to appear in Europe as well, but I don't even want to think about how the game evolved in America in the meantime.
Unfortunately, I sometimes get awful lag while playing in America, so it's not practical if you want to be competitive in every aspect of the game.

Not a fair estimation of the US of A. All societies have generational problems. The sheer size of America and the over-exposure of every incident by our national media system makes us seem worse in every negative regard.
Are we the best, or morally perfect in the world political spectrum? Hell no. But this is still a damn good place to live. man it burns me to hear Americans slam America. This isn't Cuba. If you are upset or ashamed you know what you can do.
I expect scorn of the United States by the French. That's obvious. But internal scorn is tough to stomach. We have systems set in place to protest what you do not like in this country. Use them and quit bitching.

One heck of a lot of consolidation needs to happen in Europe. There are far too many 3 man guilds running around, which while fine for PvE is problematic to say the least for Europe's development of their own PvP strategies. We also lost a lot of beta talent to the US servers (traitors).

Ahhahaa,I'm on US servers, and in the last couple days I actually saw a ton of people with legolas and deathblade in their name. I even saw a "Legolas Deathblade" character yesterday. Hilarious.
Yes, we're not too big on creativity...

That free speech thing is a kicker ain't it? I know that all societies have generational problems and that our media over-exposes most everything. I agree that this is a damm good place to live ATM but I disagree with how this country is progressing and if it continues this won't be that good of a country to lie in. As for having a system in place to use it generally doesn't work that well unless you have lots of financially backing.
I also hear lots of reasons to be proud of america but for each one of those I here I hear 2 reasons to be ashamed of america.

I know you guys love to discuss your likes and dislikes about certain things, including your countries, but we all know how flammable such topics can be. Could we possibly keep it Guild Wars related? Pretty please?

Just when it was about to get interesting. There's nothing like pointing out the bad things of your own country (it's the country you're supposed to know best, after all)

Okaly doakly. No more country bashing for me. *sighs*
Now I really did find the European Servers nicer along with the international districts. Being able to leave local chat on was a very refreshing change.
EDIT: Felt like responding without making another post.

We should start an Off-Topic thread about it except it would prolly be closed just when it got interesting.

Feel free to point out what you dislike about your country, as long as it's Guild Wars related.
